All four of my children participated in Utah’s public education system, and I am grateful for the many dedicated teachers who contributed to their success. We ask a lot of our educators, and I believe we should give them the support and resources they need while keeping our focus on what matters most: helping students learn and succeed.

Utah’s schools are preparing students for a rapidly changing world. That means strengthening the fundamentals, supporting effective teachers, preparing students for college and careers, and giving families meaningful opportunities to be involved in their children’s education. It also means recognizing that students have different needs and ensuring our education system gives them opportunities to find the path that works for them.

During my service in the Utah House and now in the Senate, I have supported investing in our schools while demanding that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly. We should continue working to get resources into classrooms, support and retain great educators, promote parental involvement, and give local schools the flexibility they need to help every student succeed.
