For years, I have made the residents of Northern Utah my top priority—first while serving in the Utah House of Representatives and now in the Utah State Senate. During that time, I have gotten to know so many of our great residents, and we’ve worked together to strengthen our communities and protect the quality of life that makes Northern Utah such a special place to call home.

I believe our challenges are best addressed through pragmatic, conservative leadership and a focus on the basics. In the Senate, I am working to preserve our quality of life, bring high-paying jobs to our region, strengthen our education system, and ensure Northern Utah remains a place where families can build a prosperous future.

It is a privilege to continue the work I started in the Utah House and to serve as a voice for Northern Utah families in the State Senate. I am grateful for the trust our community has placed in me and remain committed to listening, working hard, and delivering results for the people I represent.

MEET CAL

My wife, Dawnell, and I moved to the district more than 30 years ago following my military service in Desert Storm. We have lived in Ogden, Roy, and now West Haven. We both count ourselves lucky to call this beautiful place home and have loved raising our family here—which now includes two gorgeous grandchildren!

I was raised in the small town of Monticello, Utah, and am grateful to be the son of a diesel mechanic and a school cafeteria cook who taught me the value of an honest day’s work. I’ve carried those lessons with me throughout my service in the Legislature, from my years in the Utah House of Representatives to my current service in the State Senate. Building a prosperous future for my family and our community was at the heart of my decision to first run for the Legislature in 2018, and it remains my driving motivation today.

From my military service to coaching youth sports and volunteering at my kids’ school, I have always enjoyed actively engaging in our community. Public service has given me another opportunity to do just that—to listen to my neighbors, understand the challenges facing our families, and work toward practical solutions.

Economic Development

I want Northern Utah to be a place where families can build successful careers without having to leave the communities they love. Creating an environment that attracts high-paying jobs and supports a strong, diverse economy remains one of my priorities in the State Senate.
