Utah’s strong economy and quality of life have made our state an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family. But for too many Utahns, the cost of that life is becoming harder to afford. Families are paying more for housing, groceries, utilities, transportation, and other everyday necessities, and those costs add up quickly.

Housing is one of the biggest pieces of that affordability challenge. Homeownership has long provided Utah families with stability and an opportunity to build wealth, but rising home prices and other costs have put that opportunity out of reach for too many young families. We need more attainable homes, fewer unnecessary barriers to building them, and policies that protect private property rights and keep the cost of homeownership as low as possible.

As your senator, I will continue looking for practical, fiscally responsible ways to reduce the pressure on family budgets. Government cannot control every cost, but it should not make life more expensive through unnecessary taxes, regulations, or barriers to economic opportunity. Utah families work hard for what they earn, and our policies should help them keep more of it and build a secure future here.
